COLLABORATIONS

Collaborations is a series of works Karin has produced over the last 12 years, using, as a basis, paintings, drawings or sketches made by other artists, either professional or amateur, even some anonymous, or printed canvases, purchased here and there throughout her wanderings. 

Karin gives these canvases a new life. She integrates their past stories and voices with a new path, sometimes even leaving a trace of their erased images in her adaptation. Their histories become new discoveries, sometimes with an entirely different style, achieved through the strokes, color mixes and additional elements which Karin chooses for each collaborative piece.

Highly respectful of the power of teamwork in her professional life, she applies this same approach to the paintings based or springing from others’ works. She likes to elaborate, improvise and collaborate with a pre-existing canvas to create an unexpected and unknowing co-produced artwork, so the end result becomes a new value-added dynamic.
